When it all gets to be too much…

Packed calendars (if we can even keep up with our calendars)

An infinitely growing to-do list that never seems to get shorter no matter how many hours you put in

Wild disorganization, because you don’t even have time to breathe

The pressure of feeling like we’re carrying the entire world on our backs and that any misstep means sure catastrophic failure

Forcing ourselves through exhaustion, overwhelm, foggy minds, stress, and health struggles

The pressure tells us we have to keep living this way.

It keeps us making completely empty promises to ourselves like “when things slow down….” or “after I get this project off my plate”…

We careen down this proverbial interstate at 100mph, dodging traffic and white-knuckling the wheel all the way…

when all we want is a freakin’ BREAK.

But people like us don’t get breaks. Right?

Oh, my love, I sure am glad you’re here.

My brain told me that same lie for many years while I constantly scrambled for a false sense of control that would “fix it”.

The first thing you’re going to have to do is decide you want it and that you’re going to take it - no.matter.what.

These days, my calendar is lusciously spacious. I enjoy rest. The pressure of having to constantly be in motion and solving all the problems and doing all the things is far behind me.

It’s not because some magic moment came and it all got easier.

It’s not because life stopped throwing curveballs.

It’s not because I stopped helping my friends or volunteering less.

It’s not because I started ordering out all the time and quit cleaning my house.

The strange part? There’s actually a LOT more happening in my life.

I own more businesses than I did when I was living in that pressure cooker (only one of which has full-time staff).

I have more responsibilities and moving parts.

I have more work travels + more pleasure travels to balance with kids’ schedules and my partner’s business needs.

I have more houses to manage and maintain.

The secret?

Well, my friend - we have the formula completely backwards and we have for a very long time.

Especially in the case of independent business owners.

The idea that we have to care for everyone and everything else in order to “earn” time rest + care + pleasure is complete. and total. bullshit.

It’s also 100% the recipe for burnout and high functioning anxiety/depression (ask me how I know).

The reason everyone is still doing it this way is because they’re in their heads.

If they stop doing it this way, they think people will think they’re selfish…or lazy…or greedy…or arrogant.

And then there’s the ultra-hidden fear - “If I stop working, I’ll lose control. If I stop moving and doing and acting, everything will fall apart.”

The good news is that it’s our OWN thoughts and self-perception that keep us stuck in this frantic pace that’s not remotely sustainable.

The better news is that because of this, you don’t need one single other person’s buy-in or permission or action to change this for yourself.

You could start 2 minutes from now…or even right in this moment…if you wanted to.

I specialize in working with these thoughts so that solopreneurs and independent professionals can have more successful, more balanced lives AND businesses.

After all, when you’re the solo head of the ship (regardless of whether you have staff or not) - EVERYTHING you are and do reflects in the business.

There’s no way it can’t.

You are one human and you take the same mind and heart everywhere you go.

You may be able to compartmentalize your thoughts, but you can’t compartmentalize the affect they have on your focus, your creativity, your patience, your stress levels, your emotions, or your mental bandwidth - at least not for any long period.

If you are stressed because your relationship isn’t well, it’s coming with you into your work.

If you haven’t slept in a week, it’s coming with you into your work.

The first step is to ensure you’re an asset to your business.

The second step is to start building a support team so all the pressure isn’t on you to perform….you know, so you can be a regular human who sometimes doesn’t sleep well or has life stuff going on…so you can stop forcing yourself through the motions.

You have the power to make these shifts.

I can teach you how to harness it.

Are you ready to step into the best time of your life?
